I'm actually the Chief of Staff. That's right! It says so on my hospital badge. I'm a Chocolate Lab, and I'll be turning 4 years old this month. I love coming to the hospital and making everyone feel so happy!! At Childrens Hospital I met a little girl named Maggie. I visited with her a few times. I loved visiting her! She would let me jump up on her bed and rub my belly and feed me treats. Well, a few weeks passed and she was no longer in her room. I was sad that I couldn't see her, but very happy for her because she must have gone home. After we finished visiting the other children on that floor, we had so much time on our hands that we went to the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). As we were passing one of the rooms, a nurse ran out and grabbed my mom. She quickly pulled us into the room. It was Maggie! She had a big tube down her mouth and there were all these doctors and nurses around her. Maggie had seen me walk by her room and wanted me to visit her. We were going to wait outside the door, but Maggie wanted me to stay. A doctor took the big tube out of Maggie's mouth, and she took a deep breath. She turned to me and told me that the staff had brought her down to the PICU the night before because she was having trouble breathing. But now, after seeing me, she was breathing normally and feeling a lot better. This is just one of the many reasons why I love doing this job. If I can make just one person feel better, I've done my job!!! Thanks for listening. Love, Raja |
